Lastolite Softbox The Toilet Selfie

Tonight I decided I could no longer look at these Christmas Lights on our stairs and not see what I could capture of my son Corey.

Even week I try to encourage my children to work for me, they get paid £1 for around 15 minutes work, I set me self a challenge to try and capture my chosen image within 15 minute (as long as their attention will last)

Tonight I wanted to capture a nice portrait of my Son and decided the toilet was the place to start !!

Kit used: Canon 5d mk3

Canon 24-70 f/2.8

Lastolite Softbox Micro Apollo mkii

Manfrotto Monopod

Firstly is decided I wanted some lovely background blur so needed to capture this image at an aperture of f/2.8 and zoomed in at 50mm, now given the option to do this again I would now probably choose a 50mm prime lens and get my aperture down to f/2.2 resulting in even more beautiful bokeh.

I feathered the light coming off the softbox on to Corey's face giving him a lovely soft lighting paling across his innocent face.

Every thing in camera was set to manual including the flash power, giving me full control over the exposure of the image.

Here is the result of what we captured in a toilet including some behind the scenes photos.
